Boels Ladies Tour, vijfde etappe

Chiara Consonni wint verrassend de slotetappe van de Boels Ladies Tour. De Italiaanse, rijdend voor de formatie Valcar-Cylance, is in Arnhem sneller dan Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) en de uiterst strijdlustige Lucinda Brand (Team Sunweb.

De eindoverwinning is voor de Luxemburgse kampioen Christine Majerus (Boels Dolmans).

Christine Majerus heeft de 2019 editie van de Boels Ladies Tour op haar naam gezet. Na een attent gereden race gisteren startte de Luxemburgse vandaag met 30 seconden voorsprong op de concurrentie. Deze voorsprong werd met hand en tand verdedigd door de ploeg. Meerdere ontsnappingen bedreigden nog de eindwinst van Majerus vandaag. In de laatste kilometers werd hard gewerkt en volgde een massasprint waarin Christine zelf nog als 10e finishde. Met dit resultaat stelde ze de eindwinst zeker hetgeen de belangrijkste en grootste overwinning tot op heden voor Majerus betekent. Afgezien van de eindwinst, wint het team ook het ploegenklassement van de Boels Ladies Tour.

Boels Ladies Tour, vierde etappe

Franziska Koch wint de vierde etappe van de Boels Ladies Tour.  De renster van Team Sunweb is op de finishlijn in Nijmegen centimeters eerder over de streep dan haar medevluchter Christine Majerus (Boels Dolmans)

Riejanne Markus (CCC Liv) finisht als derde. De Luxemburgse Christine Majerus is nu de nieuwe leider in het algemeenklassement.

Boels Ladies Tour, derde etappe

Lisa Klein sprint in Nijverdal naar een nipte zege tijdens de derde etappe van de Boels Ladies Tour. De Duitse renster verslaat de Europese Kampioen Amy Pieters met anderhalve banddikte.


Amy Pieters kwam centimeters te kort vandaag op de meet in Nijverdal. Een sterk optreden van de ploeg kon net niet worden afgemaakt door Pieters. Het bleef lang rustig op de lus van 38 kilometer die 5 maal moest worden verreden. In de voorlaatste ronde werd de koers door Amalie Dideriksen opengebroken. Ze kreeg na een paar kilometer steun van Hannah Barnes van Team Canyon. De maximale voorsprong bedroeg 30 seconden. Op de laatste beklimming van de Holterberg werd Dideriksen en Barnes ingelopen. In de laatste 10 kilometer sprongen Amy Pieters, Lisa Klein, Lizzie Deignan en Spratt weg. Zij bleven vooruit en streden voor de eindwinst op de meet in Nijverdal. Pieters kwam aan de leiding maar moest deze in de laatste meter afstaan aan Klein. Amalie Dideriksen kreeg uiteindelijk de prijs voor de strijdlustigste renner.

Boels Ladies Tour, eerste etappe

Lorena Wiebes (Parkhotel Valkenburg) wint in Weert de eerste etappe van de Boels Ladies Tour. De Nederlandse kampioen op de weg verslaat in de massasprint Kirsten Wild en Letizia Paternoster.

Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio probeerde haar valse start van de Boels Ladies Tour van zich af te zetten in de eerste etappe van woensdag. Onze Zuid-Afrikaans kampioen ging met minder dan 30 kilometer te rijden in de aanval. Ze reed solo een voorsprong van maximaal 50 seconden bijeen, maar werd met nog 10 kilometer te gaan weer ingerekend door het peloton. Er reden te veel ploegen met sprintersbelangen rond. Lorena Wiebes sprintte naar de winst. Ashleighs inspanningen hebben haar de berg- en sprinttrui opgeleverd.

Ploegleider Jeroen Blijlevens: “Er waren vandaag veel open stukken waarin het peloton uit elkaar kon vallen. Maar er waren net zo goed beboste stukken waarvan we wisten dat rensters daar ook weer terug konden komen. Ashleigh wilde vandaag graag laten zien dat ze in goede vorm is en koos daarom de aanval. Jammer genoeg kreeg ze niet direct steun bij haar vluchtpoging. In dat geval was de kans op een goede afloop groter geweest.”

NK wielrennen op de weg, vrouwen

Lorena Wiebes sprint naar alweer een nieuwe zege. Vorig weekend won de renster van Parkhotel Valkenburg de wegwedstrijd bij de Europese Spelen in Minsk. Daar werd Marianne Vos tweede. Nu in Ede wint Wiebes en wordt Marianne Vos ook weer tweede.


“We wisten van tevoren dat Lorena Wiebes een grote favoriet was en dat ze in de ondersteuning over een brede ploeg kon beschikken. De afspraak binnen de ploeg was om de koers al vroeg open te breken en de concurrentie zo aan het werk te zetten. Voor ons was het scenario met acht koplopers, met daarbij Evy Kuijpers en Riejanne Markus, natuurlijk prima. De samenstelling van die groep was perfect”, zegt ploegleider Jeroen Blijlevens.

“Je kon het verwachten dat Annemiek van Vleuten en Anna van der Breggen op het einde de koers zouden maken. Die situatie was gunstig voor Marianne Vos, zij gedijt juist goed onder zulke slopende omstandigheden. Wiebes kon zich op dat moment niet langer verschuilen. Achteraf bleek dat ze in koers te weinig geleden had.”

Jeroen Blijlevens toonde zich na afloop van het Nederlands kampioenschap tevreden met het zilver. “We kunnen leven met een tweede plaats, wetende dat we op waarde zijn geklopt. Als ploeg hebben we er alles aan gedaan en hebben we ook een goede koers gereden. Alle credits voor Wiebes die net wat sterker was.”

Janneke Ensing is per direct weg bij Team Sunweb.  La Flèche Wallonne Féminine was de laatste wedstrijd  voor de 32-jarige renster. De overeenkomst wordt per direct beëindigd omdat de samenwerking aan beide kanten niet overeenkomt met de verwachtingen.

Ensing: “Na enkele gesprekken met het team hebben ik besloten dat dit de beste optie is voor beide partijen. Aanvankelijk leek het erop dat Team Sunweb voor mij geschikt zou zijn, maar zo is het niet gegaan. Ik ben blij dat we onder goede voorwaarden kunnen stoppen en ik kijk nu uit naar een volgende hoofdstuk. “

Hans Timmermans, coach van Team Sunweb: “Het is duidelijk geworden dat de samenwerking aan beide kanten niet aan de verwachtingen heeft voldaan en na uitgebreide gesprekken is er wederzijds besloten dat afscheid nemen de beste optie is. Iedereen zou moeten kunnen werken in een omgeving die bij hen past, dus de beslissing van Janneke om haar carrière elders voort te zetten kan alleen maar de juiste beslissing zijn. We zijn haar dankbaar voor haar inspanningen en wensen haar oprecht veel succes met wat de toekomst haar biedt. “-

Ronde van Drenthe, vrouwen

Marta Bastianelli is in Hoogeveen net even sneller dan Chantal Blaak. Elen van Dijk is de nummer drie.

Een sterk teamoptreden over de vele smalle kasseistroken en wegen in Drenthe werd beloond met een tweede plaats voor Chantal Blaak, een vierde plek voor Amy Pieters, een zesde plek voor Amalie Dideriksen en een mooie 10e plaats voor Jip van den Bos. Zware weersomstandigheden met veel regen en wind zorgden voor een waar slagveld op de wegen van Drenthe. In de laatste kilometers probeerde hardrijdster Ellen van Dijk weg te komen, ze sloeg een gaatje met de achtervolgers Chantal Blaak en Marta Bastianelli. Blaak kreeg weinig hulp in de achtervolging en werd na het inhalen van Van Dijk op de finishlijn in een sprint door Bastianelli geklopt.


Kou, regen, wind en hagel maakten van de tweede WorldTour-wedstrijd van het seizoen een zware beproeving. Na de eerste beklimming van de VAMberg zat CCC-Liv er met Riejanne Markus, Jeanne Korevaar en Marianne Vos bij toen een groep van veertig zich losmaakte. De drie rensters reden prima mee en lieten zich aan het front zien.

In een nerveus tussenstuk met vier kasseistroken ging het tempo in de groep wat omlaag en wist een groep met Evy Kuijpers en Marta Lach terug aan te sluiten. Heel lang bleef dat gezelschap niet samen; kort voor de tweede klim van de VAMberg moesten veel rensters eraf, onder wie Jeanne, Riejanne en Marta, mede door toedoen van de kou.

In de finale zaten Evy en Marianne er nog bij namens CCC-Liv, maar de twee oranjehemden hadden jammer genoeg al veel krachten verspeeld in het eerste deel. Marta Bastianelli had uiteindelijk de snelste sprintersbenen; zij versloeg Chantal Blaak en Ellen van Dijk met wie ze in de slotkilometers vooraan was komen te zitten.

“We kunnen duizend-en-een excuses aandragen, maar het draaide vandaag gewoon niet. Dat is jammer, want we hadden van tevoren op meer gehoopt. Zeker na de sterke Strade Bianche, waar we met vrijwel dezelfde ploeg reden”, zegt ploegleider Jeroen Blijlevens. “We moeten deze wedstrijd snel vergeten en ons opmaken voor de volgende.”
