Tour of Guangxi, zesde etappe

Fabio Jakobsen wint de zesde en laatste etappe van de Tour of Guangxi.

Gianni Moscon (Team Sky) is de eindwinnaar.

Team LottoNL-Jumbo heeft in de slotrit van de Tour of Guangxi geen rol van betekenis kunnen spelen. In de stromende regen in Guilin werd de lead-out van Dylan Groenewegen ingesloten waarna de kans op een tweede etappezege was verkeken.

“Vandaag ging het niet zo goed. Timo, Amund en Dylan werden ingesloten in de laatste kilometer. Daardoor zat Dylan al veel te ver voor de laatste bocht en was toen eigenlijk al geklopt”, aldus ploegleider Grischa Niermann.

Niermann kijkt met gemengde gevoelens terug op de Tour of Guangxi. “We hebben gelukkig de eerste etappe kunnen winnen met Dylan en ook Pascal heeft zich goed laten zien. Er had zeker meer ingezeten. Maar aan de laatste twee etappes houden we geen goed gevoel over.”

Tour of Guangxi, vijfde etappe

 
Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-Scott) wint de vijfde etappe van de Tour of Guangxi. De Europese kampioen is in aankomstplaats Guilin na 212,2 kilometer de snelste.
 
 
Een valpartij ontregelt de massasprint met gelukkig geen grote schade. Pascal Ackermann (BORA – hansgrohe) wordt tweede en Jasper Stuyven (Trek – Segafredo) finisht als derde. Gianni Moscon (Team Sky) blijft leider in het algemeenklassement, Morgen hebben de sprinters nog een kans in de laatste etappe.
 

Pascal Eenkhoorn is in de vijfde etappe van de Tour of Guangxi opnieuw ten aanval getrokken. Net als gisteren maakte hij deel uit van de kopgroep. De renner van Team LottoNL-Jumbo werd uitgeroepen tot meest strijdlustige renner.

“Ik koerste in het begin van de wedstrijd attent”, vertelt Eenkhoorn. “Toen ik Tony Martin en Ryan Mullen zag vertrekken, dacht ik: die moet je niet laten rijden. Ik ben meegesprongen en later voegde Silvan Dillier zich bij ons. Vanaf toen was het heel de dag volle bak koers. Ik voelde me goed. Helaas kregen we geen vrijgeleide van het peloton en werden we op de top van het laatste klimmetje teruggepakt.”

De neo-prof houdt een goed gevoel aan de etappe over. “Het was een lange etappe. Dat ik weer meezat nadat ik gisteren ook deel uitmaakte van de kopgroep, laat zien dat ik een stap heb gemaakt. Dit maakt me weer sterker voor volgend seizoen. Dan wil ik graag weer een stap zetten.”

De etappe eindigde uiteindelijk in een sprint met een gedecimeerd peloton. “Dylan zat in het tweede peloton na de laatste klim”, vertelt ploegleider Grischa Niermann. “We kregen het gat niet meer dicht in de laatste kilometer. Vandaag waren we niet sterk genoeg om de situatie recht te zetten. Iets wat vorig jaar wel lukte. Op naar morgen: de laatste sprint van het jaar.”

Tour of Guangxi, vierde etappe

Als alle favorieten weer bij elkaar zijn aan de voet van de laatste klim is het tijd voor de klimmers. Stefan Kung (team BMC) en Pascal Eenkoorn (LottoNL-Jumbo) zijn de vluchters en worden op 2,5 kilometer van de finish ingelopen. Gianni Moscon (team Sky) gaat er in de laatste kilometer vandoor en wint de vierde etappe van de Tour of Guangxi.
Pascal Eenkhoorn is in de vierde etappe van de Tour of Guangxi ten aanval getrokken. De renner van Team LottoNL-Jumbo en zijn medevluchter Küng werden op enkele kilometers van de streep ingerekend.
“Het was een zwaar dagje met zijn tweeën voorop”, vertelt Eenkhoorn. “Eerst waren we met drie man, maar Kluge liet zich terugzakken. Helaas kregen Küng en ik niet veel ruimte. In de laatste dertig kilometer hebben we nog een keer gas gegeven, maar helaas was dat niet genoeg. Toch geeft dit een goed gevoel en dit is goed voor de toekomst.”
“Pascal had zijn dag goed ingedeeld”, blikt ploegleider Grischa Niermann terug. “Hij en zijn medevluchter bleven tot vijf kilometer van de streep vooruit. Sepp Kuss en Neilson Powless zijn aan de voet van de korte slotklim goed afgezet, maar er zat geen topresultaat in. Deze jongens hebben de voorbije dagen veel energie gestoken in het controleren van de etappe, dus we hadden daar al rekening mee gehouden. Morgen wordt het waarschijnlijk weer een sprint. Er is veel regen voorspeld, dus het wordt weer een zware dag.”
 
Met nog twee “sprint” etappes te gaan start Moscon morgen in de rode leiderstrui.

Fabio Jakobsen wint, ook nu weer in de stromende regen,  de derde etappe van de Tour of Guangxi. Pascal Ackermann eindigt in de massasprint als tweede . Max Walscheid finisht als derde.  r En Dylan Groenewegen  verliest met zijn vierde plaats de rode leiderstrui. Fabio Jakobsen start morgen als leider in het algemeenklassement.

Wout van Aert wint in Ardooie. De wereldkampioen veldrijden is vandaag de beste van de rest. Van Aert beseft natuurlijk dat het zonder Mathieu van der Poel een stuk gemakkelijker is. De Sluitings-Prijs Putte-Kapellen is geen UCI wedstrijd meer. Een veredeld criterium. Toch zetten we de gratie voort en blijven het als de laatste wedstrijd in Noord-Europa beschouwen.

Taco van der Hoorn, wint zoals hij dat vaker doet. Solo! Het is de laatste wedstrijd voor van de Hoorn in het shirt van Team Roompot-Nederlandse Loterij. Volgend seizoen rijdt van der Hoorn voor Team Jumbo.

Gree-Tour of Guangxi, eerste etappe

 

Het wielerseizoen nadert het einde. Dylan Groenewegen wint in Beihai de eerste etappe van de Gree-Tour of Guangxi. Het is de veertiende overwinning voor de LottoNL – Jumbo renner.

Nadat zijn ploeggenoten de gehele etappe hadden gecontroleerd, kon Groenewegen in goede positie aan de sprint beginnen. “Het was een hectische finale”, vertelt de Amsterdammer. “Aan het eind ontsnapte er nog een renner op een klimmetje, maar het team heeft die weer teruggehaald. We hebben goed werk gedaan in de finale. Ik ben heel blij dat ik de eerste etappe heb gewonnen. Mijn dank aan de ploeg is groot.”

Groenewegen haalt veel motivatie uit zijn veertiende overwinning. “Het is belangrijk dat je goed aan een wedstrijd begint. En hoe kun je beter beginnen dan met een overwinning? Dit geeft motivatie voor de volgende etappes. Morgen staat er weer een vlakke rit op het programma. Dan zullen we proberen opnieuw te winnen”, aldus Groenewegen.

Milaan – Turijn 2018

Thibaut Pinot (Groupama – FdJ) is de sterkste klimmer met een beetje geluk erbij. De Fransman wint solo Milano – Torino. Ploegmaat David Goudu schakelt in de laatste klim naar Superga ongewild de grootste concurrent uit. Even omkijken en Gaudu en Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana) liggen op de grond. Lopez finisht uiteindelijk toch nog als tweede. Wereldkampioen Alejandro Valverde laat zien dat hij nog steeds in topvorm is. Zaterdag is er de Ronde van Lombardije.

We blijven U op de hoogte houden. Morgen start de Ronde van Turkije. En er is nog veel meer te beleven zo bij het naderende einde van een mooi wielerseizoen.

Woensdag is er Milaan-Turijn. In het weekend de Ronde van Lombardije en de Tacx Pro Classic in Zeeland. Later deze maand zijn we ook aanwezig bij de Tour of Guangxi. En er is ook nog heel veel veldrijden. Genieten dus!
